It’s spring somewhere. It’s certainly spring here in L.A., and I don’t want to miss one second of it. I want to take on a trip to somewhere — anywhere! I want to smell the roses and hug the trees; I want to cherish the fleeting treasure that is called spring.
Each morning, stepping into the air filled with floral fragrance, I feel this excitement, almost restless, pumping in my chest, and thought to myself, this is most wonderful and most amazing time of the year! However, “work has to be done,” as famously said by poet Philip Larkin. In good spirit though, I’m on my way to work.
So I spend my time lavishly on weekends just wandering around the city, discovering cool coffee spots, brunching with my girls, and last but not least, shopping. Here are two looks I created for a spring outing whether you’re thinking about movies, picnics or hiking and hitting the beach.
Karen Walker sunglasses.
The most practical things for a spring outing are distressed denim, whites and stripes. Mix and match, and you could create simple and refreshing looks that are perfect for any setting, be it in a concrete jungle or a real one.
I don’t know about you guys; moi, I’d rather spend the time either in bed or in the sun, instead of frowning in front of my wardrobe, trying to make a decision. So a boxy white tee, a pair of jeans and white sneakers are great for this occasion.
To spice things up (wink wink), you could also add a little romantic bohemian elements into the basic setup: suede, tribal prints, lace, tassel… what have you, all of which will in the end achieve this air of delicate casualness, this spring-inspired soaring free spirits.
Like this short jacket I’m wearing. It fits perfectly with the color scheme while adding that little extra fun to the jeans and the white tee: a casual but sharp look.
What’s great about this outfit is that I could wear it to anywhere mostly. Very lightweight and easy to move around, dressed up but not really, bright and cheerful.
Mom and I. Mom’s wearing white and stripes, which also pulls the trick.

For this look, I sneaked in a few bohemian items, print tank top, suede bag and sandals, to the jeans and whites formula. Because they are all of an earthy tone and appear in small scales compared to the denim and the linen shirt, I could keep away from looking without a focus or priority.
For those of you who are not ready for wearing only the tank top, shirts, acting as light jackets, are your true friends. Casually buttoned, showing the print tank top with your movements; or, tie it around your waist for a completely different look.
Because we’re very big on a casual look with the shirt, avoid buttoning it all the way up. It’s the weekend! And spring! Relax and take it easy.
